I am a pub landord from West Wales. I write poetry, songs and four-fifths of novels. I enhance and embellish folktales, record and publish them as story CD’s. Too old to be hip and too young for a hip replacement. Insomnia ________ Insomnia shepherds me to the sea, keening a corridor through the pagan side streets of this Christ-likely town. By day we are very chapel and church, given to righteous gifts of courtesy and finger-nimble signs of peace but when the vestry doors are bolted and the pub lights filter under barred doors, this town becomes a bawdy borough. Hi Soph, This has some strong images and reads like you are aiming for a speech pattern. I have only been to a few 'slams' but this would 'sound' good at a slam - at times it almost has a rap quality to it, especially with the line lengths that give a stop/start rhythmic punchiness throughout. There are one or two clunks ie. 'When women eventually rule the world Hatred and intolerance in the abyss will be hurled' & 'Actions abhorrent will be dealt with devotion' with lines written for the rhy...
