“I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go”.

The warmth pulls it up in my thoughts We were so green then, just hardly out of our shucks Those hours passed us into our ripening Our heads raised into drought and then were rested again Seasons into seasons only offered quick glimpses of the cultivation Flowers now, not gone to seed, not yet. Waiting for the next wind to carry it out

Let’s play the Bookends album again Those notes fall on my heart like your face fading from my memory The clinking of ice in your rum and coke and the darkness of the room, only getting darker now I want to play Summertime Rolls but you say Whiter Shade of Pale I miss you and need resolution that will never come I only cry for you when the LPs are playing That crackle makes the music so much clearer to me I can still smell your potpourri when I open up the covers It brings a sadness deeper th...

The silent ills are what ail me Creepy crawl up my spine and stick to my sleepy head Pale faced awake with the red eyes still feeling those uglies You, but someone else It doesn’t make sense in that place Crosswise to my straight and narrows Days of non-thoughtlessness elixate Manifest into perspicuity

Good quote.....you know you will probably hear a rapper use this in the next week or so...that always happens to me. Great job!!! ~E
I have read quite a few of your shorts and I really enjoy them. This one leaves me kind of confused though. I don't really understand what is happening in the story and the tenses seem to jump around. Also, in the first line I think that it should read,"He had hoped it would be a challenge". Please keep sharing...I do like your stories very much. I think maybe this one was just rushed a bit. Thank You, ~E
Great poem! It's so sexual, but you also get the sense of the deeper feelings that go along with the sex. I LOVE this line, "the one who..uh..makes me crave the taste of his nut in my tummy. One question, why did you go with THAMAN instead of THEMAN? Thanks so much for sharing! ~E
