The gusting winds set in that week, sweeping through Chisholm County. It was a changing week; the kind when every man, woman, and child switched from their light jackets to the parkas before trudging out into the blowing, freezing countryside. I slammed the door (with the help of the wind), hoping it hadn’t awakened my parents as I crunched on top of last night’s snow-blown, compacted snowfall, and headed down the block. I was trudging out under a streaked sky ...

I long for your footsteps with dancers’ poise, The grace of an angel lowered within my grasp, It’s time to reach out and touch you before you, the radiant butterfly, flutter away. Could I describe how I feel? Would the words be honest? A language cannot conquer such love, Let my actions speak. Eternity is long and distant, But I want to spend it with you, Your hand in mine will guide me through the perils we face. What is your answer? Choices multiply daily, but my love is complet...

Hope for a place, A place alone, Never ending but forgiving, It molds to your touch and massages your heart, I’d join you there beneath the trees of need, The picnics would last forever, Until the time to frolic, We’d run through wildflower fields, Cascading rain only feeds the joy, Petals wet with our love, Feet covered in muddy ardor, A race to the cottage, Finish lines of blankets before the fire, A mug for each, The blankets melt into each other, The floor’s a king size ...

Strange and fragile, A pane of glass seldom cleaned, Fun and laughter constantly abound, But will it ever shine true? Love is thrown around, Close friends, Does this friendship exist? Questions don’t matter. It’s what we make of it, A connection built on oddity and separated fun of various kinds. Ride it out, It’s fun and silly, Building a reality.

Listen to the message, It’s in my every step, Come and dance with me, I yearn to hold your tender hand, And live, Just know you and hold you, Exist together, A ballerina and her shadow, They must be as one. Great flames of strife measure my past, I stand upon a ledge above them, Free, Your grace was my guide. And yet, here I struggle, Do I have your answer? Do I want it? The cusp of your sentence shall hold my fate. With fragile syllables I could endure, My destiny placed in your everla...

I enjoyed this poem a great deal. Because of your intense and layered vocabulary, I had to slow down while I read it. That just helped me to appreciate each line more. With every word, every line, you create a new and powerful image that assaults the mind. The language of this poem is lovely. I particularly enjoyed how you broke up the poem with shorter (even some one word) lines. That gave it more power in my opinion and kept me deeply interested. Nice job.

Taking into account the notes you posted for the purpose of this poem, I'd say you did a nice job of showing what it means to live forever or to die. It is definitely a poem that could be seen as dark, but I didn't really feel that way. It shows what living means and the important role death plays in human existance.
