I watched CNN for 34 days straight because I could not turn away from the hurricane coverage and the political rumble. Trying to write, doing my thing, responding to Anderson Cooper in print, but this is the middle of the story. One sunny day in September I was feeling pretty good after 8 hours of helping people and running queries at my day job. I stopped off at my standard Mexican joint for a pick-up dinner and, I'm embarrassed to say, a packet of red Kool-Aid. The elevators were jammed up,...

It's a typical Saturday night after bowling. I'm "watching" a movie and waiting for Tarot calls. I remember being light-weight irritated at being home, not out, but then again there was a gangster movie marathon starting with "The Godfather" and ending with "Goodfellas." Ten hours of entertainment and I get to enlighten lives when the phone rings. But the White Russian at the bar down the street is calling my name. So is my girl Lizzie, on my cell. "Lisala, I've got your drink you just have t...

I wrote this pice on June 4, 2006. Not sure why I didn't publish it. My views haven't changed in 1 1/2 years, though. I'm probably going to tick a lot of women off, but from what I'm seeing in marriages and relationships today, women really do not know how to be grateful, appreciative, or provide a thriving environment for their husbands or life mates, and it's annoying me enough to put my thoughts and theories in print. At least, this is what he told the United Nations on Tuesday, September 20th. He continued his diatribe the next day in Harlem, saying Bush is a sick man who is unqualified for his job, among other things. Chavez's comments were inspired by Bush's comments in front of the UN on Tuesday. Representative Charles Rangle (D-NY) defended Bush, telling Chavez not to ...

You captured each season well and succinctly. I want to go to this place and chillax for awhile. Nice job.

You captured "that feeling" after the separation, and the emotions of recovering well. The second-guessing was very real, too. I wonder why atonement though. Referring to atonement may mean having to mention what the main character did wrong to drive the lover away. Nice job, you captured a lot in less than 400 words.
ΒΆΒΆ Your soul may be lost but it left the talent behind indeed! I enjoyed the Langston reference and how you ran through time searching for the talent. It's there and this piece proves it. Nice work!
May I use this? I'm not a fan of love poems but I like yours for it's directness and sweetness. Concise and nice.
