Michelle Kaplan is a freelance writer and special correspondent for the Sun-Sentinel. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she is a graduate of Northeastern University where she majored in Journalism and bar hopping. She is a huge Boston Red Sox fan so she truly understands broken dreams; heartache and how to “just ignore” people who wear New York Yankee hats instead of verbally abusing them. When she’s not cleaning up juice box spills and the sticky fingers of her two children, Emily and Joshua, she enjoys openly criticizing the current administration and most of all spending time with her soul mate, Michael who is a New York Yankee fan.

The Buzzed Perspective: Freedom is SO Free Word Count: 555 By Michelle Kaplan The fourth of July should have been celebrated with a bigger bang this year, because American’s love their freedom so much… we just want to slap a little on everyone. If you can’t earn your own, it’s ok, we’ll die trying to give you some. I’m thinking of the soldiers in Iraq who should be home by now woofing down burgers, guzzling beer and telling war stories to their friends. It’s been a long five years. But it’s o...

Spring may be when a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, but for me, this is the May I’ve been dreading for 39 years. Yes, I’m gonna hit 40. Did I just admit that on paper? I must be getting old. Facing 40 makes you ponder some of life’s biggest most mysterious questions. Why am I here? What does it all mean? Will there be any social security left for those of us who paid into it? What ever happened to Cyndi Lauper? When the hell is garbage day and why can’t I ever remember t...

Potty Mouth, what the F&@%! Yes, it was just a slip of the tongue, but it may has well have been the shot heard round the world. In a semi-private moment George Bush, while lunching in St. Petersburg at the Group of Eight summit was just shooting the S%$# with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and then somehow World War 3, or 4 depending what party you ask, broke out. True, that most career politicians know to keep the naughty words in check when they’re at a summit that’s being so closely c...

Welcome to McCourt…please drive around. If things in this world were not impersonal and automated enough, just make your way to McCourt. It’s a long story, isn’t it always when it comes to cars, tickets and court. Ok so I may not be the poster child of safe drivers. But when you’ve been schooled in Boston where we take our sports pretty serious, there’s baseball with our Red Sox, we love our New England Patriots football team and we’re still hoping for the return of the Celtics Basketball dyn...

By Michelle Kaplan If Kathleen Madigan ever had to go into the witness protection program she could hide in South Florida, no problem. She would blend right in because she drives a Cadillac and you can’t see her head over the steering wheel. Madigan 40, native of St. Louis and a comedian who gained face recognition on NBC’s reality show, Last Comic Standing is thinking aloud about her blog that appears on her website, where she writes down exactly what’s on her mind. For instance, in her blo...

Although the words are good - I give up at this point... it's a sex and drug fest with no point....you give me no reason to care about these people, what happens to them or why... let's get high and all fuck...boring not shocking, how about tell us how this normally awkward sitution happened...bring us there...you just kind of bring it...sorry but it just doesn't feel like something real.
WOW! That, so far, is a page turner...I really liked it. It gives you enough to know (or think you know) what happened and it makes you want to know what happened and more, what is going to happen. It is clear, it is intriguing it is scary! I think so far it's very good.
Hey Jordan, I think your thoughts are interesting, however, I think you could expand on it. I think you could have been a little more discriptive, tell us more about the appealing way to dress and how we fail (miserably!) I think its a very funny observation..I hope you know that Orlando is a very strange place because it is a vacation destination and attracts people from all over the world (mostly americans) but still, if you want to see a more 'fashionable' city...New York..LA, you've got t...
First, so you know, I've never seen the movie... but like you I was intrigued by the trailer. The good stuff...you do this with humor and your writing connotes authority of the subject of film. In other words, it comes across that you really know what you're talking about. But this could also be your downfall. A simple review of the film tells enough without telling it all...(YOU LET US KNOW EVERYONE DIES, which should be proceeded with Spoiler!) You make great points about character, protago...
I like this piece....however the question remains, why WAS he reelected? It would be interesting to have had some facts of how he did get a second term. Do you really think it was the race card? Did no one else seriously step up to take on the rebuilding of New Orleans. Although I knew he was reelected and scoffed as well, I didn't have the interest myself to really wonder , why...how etc... I don't think that Democrate/Republican makes a play here...let's face it, politicians making bad deci...
