I wrote my first poem on August 31st, 2003, and I have been writing on and off ever since (usually when my subconscious “tells” me I need to write).  While I wrote stories and essays during my adolescent school years, once college began it all fell by the wayside.  I’ve found poetry to be the best creative outlet for me during this time of my life.  Many of my poems reflect my emotional state; past history; life experiences; etc., although some have been written at the request of friends to document their experiences and emotions.  I am by no means a great poet, and I am continually seeking to improve my craft, so I will be grateful for any suggestions from other poets!

I moved to Florida in August of 2004, and I really love it here…especially during beach weather!  The ocean is such a comfort to me: listening to the waves as they reach the shore, feeling the sun’s rays on my skin…nothing brings me closer to inner peace.
I recently changed professions: I went from the business world to being a 9th grade English teacher last August.  Talk about challenging!  I had no idea how much work it really takes to be a good teacher.  It seems like I have something I have to do for school every night and every weekend.  Thank God for all of those vacation days! :-)
I am in the ninth month of my first relationship since my fiance’s death on July 20, 2002.  JV (my nickname for him) is intelligent, articulate, he has a great sense of humor, he has a great physique, he is a self-employed political consultant, he loves to surf and to ride his Harley, he treats me with respect, he really “listens” to what I say, and he loves me for who I am, faults and all! I am truly blessed to have him in my life.
Some of my favorite activities (when I have some spare time, that is) are: fencing, reading, watching movies, writing poetry, listening to music, dancing, collecting knives and swords, travelling Europe, spending time with JV, being on the beach, taking naps during thunderstorms, making people laugh and feel good about themselves, hanging out with my friends, reading about my Celtic heritage and about Psychology, learning new things, and “playing” on the Internet.
