I have always enjoyed writing but never took myself too seriously – my degree is in English Literature and I owe a lot to my professors, they opened my eyes. I admired my Brit Lit professor’s passion and mind, and my Poetry professor’s unique view of life – as well as the quirky discussions we all had. He helped me realize that with a little confidence and dedication I can become a great writer too. Here’s to a lifetime of frustration.

The moonlight slipped in between the heavy blue curtains of Ms. Emma Loy's room and left a tiny trail of silver that crawled across her floor. Albert Claxton sat in the coal black room watching his beloved Emma rest, her crimson satin sheets the only color cutting through the dark. He gazed intently at his lover, admiring her raven hair and the way the satin draped delicately over her side- her soft, powder white skin exposed. Albert could sense her shapely silhouette, the curve of her naked ...

Two years. Two years since. Two years since you died. Well, to me. Lies, lies that's all you gave me. Lies and lines. Oh, those damn lines- promises of love promises of romance but empty- The embodiment of you, the metaphor of us... I gave my all, but you? You! You took my mind and twisted it. You took my heart and fed it to the dog.

That's too bad you didn't get it! When my mom was younger she worked for Playboy (the one in Chicago as well) - she was asked to be a bunny also apparently. But anytime she says that she makes sure to tell me "but they were only waitresses!" She always talked about how it was nothing like you would expect, how it was a very professional environment. I loved hearing it from a guys point of view, the image of corporate men reading playboy is hilarious! I applied to work there but never heard ba...

How I got into this business is beyond me. I should have done crime scene clean up.
I can't help but feel kind of bad for the guy. It amazes me that a symbol can have such an impact on people (although I can understand this one of course). Over the summer I went into an antique shop in Wisconsin (in an area that was very German) and there was a shelf at the entrance that had Nazi memorabilia. I thought it was kind of weird that they placed it by the entrance. I have had a few great teachers in my life, people that I actually felt like I was learning something worthwhile from...
Ok so far I haven't come across anything on this website that I think is really awesome - but this is really awesome. First of all, it's short and sweet which I am a huge fan of. If you can say something in 5 words, then say it in 5 words. You succeeded in this. Also, you used the white space to your advantage, something many poets forget to do, or don't see its importance. I also like this because it makes me think. I absolutely love analyzing poems. This one can have multiple meanings as we...
I really like the subject, comparing a classic car to love. Love poems are really hard to write because so much has been said about it. But I like where you're trying to go with this. Now before you read on just keep in mind that I'm a fan of short and sweet, so if you like long poems, then don't take what I say too seriously :) I think you could cut this poem in half and it would be more effective. You may lose readers because of its length. You may read it and find that it feels awkward - t...
