Can't we just say I'm young and dumb, trying to find a way in a world  blanketed by silence.   Can't we just smile, pretend everything is alright, laugh off the scars.   Please, give me something, pain, happiness, sadness, anything, but the way I feel.   A rock would do, it's strong enough to throw myself at and break myself upon.    But so would the touch of skin, sow up these wrongs, cover them up, just for a little while.   Can't we just say I'm a fool. I can’t stand writing; To sit and listen to my own thoughts, while instrumental music plays in the background; I now see why most writers become alcoholics. Why would anyone want to spend so much time with themselves? Maybe others write to be different, to say that their not just another face. Maybe they write to tell the world how meaningless everything is, or to talk about some romanticized ray of light, or to say that they have purpose, and write because everyone should know their g...

A man walks old dirt roads, Hot wind never touches his robes. His skin worn and wrinkled with wisdom, Dark eyes pierce to my heart.   Opens an old book, Points to my name, To a story not yet written.   He leaves me in desert heat, Rows of cracked adobe buildings. I hide in shade, drink and ponder. Was he real? Or just another story.   People speak of this stranger Like tumbleweed, he comes and goes, To this little town called Movas.   Here, young men dress as the pharisees...

Wow, you have a lot of criteria. Maybe narrow down the criteria a bit to 2 - 4... Anyways, this seems like a more personal poem you keep hidden from the public eye. But I did relate to it. I often think of the people I've been with and how everything seems so right at night, but the day is never as right as the night. Probably not what your going for, just what I felt from it. I defiantly feel your sense of longing for this person, who just seemed to leave you with all your love for him/her. ...
Nice poem, it reminds of a line from Bukowski where he writes something like, "We are never as strong as that which we create." I don't really have any critiques, I never really understood how anyone could critique a poem. But I did enjoy this, and one line that stood out to me was, "But I find it sad/ that truth fits you/ like one of your daddy's shirts." Another reason I like this poem is that it just seems to flow, that your no trying too hard to get a message across or write in a certain ...
I like this a lot. There is tons of depth to this poem. The aspect of the moon, being your hope and light in an already dark night is really cool. The imagery is strong and the flow is at a nice steady pace with an easy rhyme. The moon and the stars personifying your emotions is done nicely, and my favorite lines have to be, "If you wish to make another black night/ I'll pray for my moon in search for some light." My only critique is on the fourth line, "So stab my open sore because silence i...
