Hi,
I enjoy poetry- and it irks me that some users out there don’t really take the time to understand a poem (obviously they want to earn credits) Honestly- if i dont UNDERSTAND someones work- I dont review it- i think that maybe a good way to avoid disrespecting other people.
ALSO- people should realize that reviewing should be limited to the work not the individual creator.
THANKS!

Imagine No fuchsia fragrance Just a drab orange No, not burnt by the sun but Manufactured by tax dollars Funny how her dark skin Didn't quite suit that Burnt orange on any stage Her smile, warmly lit Luscious lips Lipstick applied heavily Mouth pouty Quivering with the word "Empowerment" a buzz word for Women in academia Her agency made object Like a vacant chair In a darkened room Self secluded from action Context stripped of emotion By the subject of femininity A thick skin Kissed by honey ...

Black Woman Intellect My spirit sometimes fails me My body sometimes deserts me Shoulders erect, chin to sky I'd like to carry the movement as I rise Some days my back curves And my eyes graze the ground I cherish my feet as my Poet lips kiss the earth. I don't want to stand. I question my values and forget to ask why Why the terror of strength, and The burden of a skeptic intellect? Sometimes I'd like to escape my rationale To care about what is right in front of me To force my eyes closed A...

I feel therefore, I am free I sense therefore, I see I write therefore, I am me I direct the feelings of our being. The being of my feelings Occupy a space Just between a heartbeat And soul-like melody. I am furious dark, tough, Beautiful I envision deep pockets Behind my eyelids Enough tears to cry For all of humanity Enough welled up Inside to die In the hidden crevices of My mind, your tenacity. I am strong , weak And yet somehow I persist Resist the rotted Stagnation of life. Death on top...

The narrative of our love. From the blood fresh steel Encircling our pain. Shape-shifter named seduction Calling out our shackled names. You separated from I and Worlds between He and She, A faceless creator Divine interpreter who translated The semen The embryo in the Petri dish Into The Words The energy of our broken love The History of our love The bruising of the words on a white page Of a mud like DARK ink Darker than our complex tones But so dark it couldn't scar PINK Like, SO dark this...

Free Flow Thirsty souls crave symbolic hydration the power of waters clarity; soothing power assuages dry, chapped memories displaces global instruction the stream-like retelling a free flow Expanding universal thought Conflated by egocentric foundations Destroyed by structurally non-existent Reversible blue-prints Controlled by capitalism And thoroughly Managed by exceptionalism Holes, pre-existing. Punctured by the Bullet points of a fortune tellers philosophy unspoken lexical freedom gagge...

Locked
i really enjoyed the lack of boundaries in this one- it seemed to flow despite the usage of modern and not so modern conventions. the description of the warrior was both unforgiving and artistic. good job!
Poetry / Psalm
For the thought was lying in the other room i must go there to here its whisper the word is alive- it seems. and you are somehow at its mercy. i like this poem- simple has a rythmic quality to it as well altho i dont understand the part about "my vertical"
Poetry / Poem Twelve
very good use of adjectives. dingy blood- makes me feel as if the owner is somehow unworthy of the act of bleeding- another interesting thing is your relation to the "his" is very elusive- i still cant seem to figure it out. good job!
Poetry / Cup of Happiness
Would I reproduce it, risking authenticity? Or simply refuse That there would be no measurement of my despair a cup of happiness- i think you did well with this metaphor. it seems very interesting that this cup would be a measure of your despiar- what a fulfilling internal conflict
