Came late into the writing field, though I have written something all my life it seems. Not until after 911 did I realize that I was not getting any younger and if I was ever going to be published, then now was the time. Scattered random thoughts without any context or unifying connection. While this piece may have value to you and friends who know your inner most thoughts; an experienced reader/poet and stranger, is going to have trouble making the connections or even understand what this poem is about. 1st, as to the goals set, too many and some are redundant. I always start any writer/post out at 5 because its a 50/50 shot on if the post/writer goes up or down from there. So take a look at the goals and if you went up, I saw something worthwhile, if not, then you still are at the beginning stages and need to work more. Its a very cute opening to a story, but your making one of the biggest mistakes a first time writer makes. 1st rule of writing, show the story don't tell the story. What this means is that you need to write in Active voice story telling through all the sense's that your characters posses. Who's ever POV your in can not show anything outside that POV, including the thoughts of others, unless they are mind-readers and then you have to show the reader this ability so they will know.
