I disagree with some of these reviews. The best literature allows for the reader's own emotions and experience to help mold the meaning and importance of the piece. This quote would lose its universal meaning if the events leading up to this thought were to be explained. You obviously can relate to it, and there has been a handful of instances in my life where I have stated that exact phrase. Your quote is terse but good; those are six words that will remind your reader of their lost loves.
