CHAPTER ONE – EARLY BEGINNINGS Tara sat within the shade of a gnarled old olive tree whose branches reached, like groping fingers, toward the cool water that flowed a mere metres away. She sat with a piece of unfinished mending on her knee. It felt as though she was always either making or mending lately. The child at play, whom she watched so fondly, had grown so fast and, yet, it seemed as though it were only yesterday that the swaddled babe had been placed in her arms. A smile hovere...

LORD WIGAN’S MILL Twas a dark and blustery night The town stood black without a light The moon she hid her silvery face As the rebels rode at a galloping pace. The roar of the surf hid every noise The clinking of metal and the muffled oaths Were lost in the raging gale. They knew they dare not fail The rebels rode across the heath To where against the darkened sky Stood the centre of their hate Lord Wigan’s cursed mill. At their approach the guardians opened fire Amid the noise o...

FREE The sun the moon and the stars are as one with me The trees the birds and the heavy pollen laden bee These are my family and my friends. The sea is a soothing rhythm of movement whose scent is a heady balm That my broken wounds soon mends The soughing wind that rustles through leaves And caresses my face with its gentle finger tips Carries my thoughts on a travelling breeze Over the vast expanse of heaving ocean to Far distant lands touched only by bobbing ships To lands where unexplored...

The early morning sun danced joyfully on the sea. In the harbor, garlands that draped the prow of each and every ship and barge, drifted perfume on the gentle breeze. Their perfume co-mingled with that, from the flowers, adorning the doorways and gardens of the dwellings and other buildings making up the Great Metropolis that was Kallistos. The rays of the sun lanced, in blinding light, from the beaten bronze of the roofs and doors of the Temple and municipal buildings, reflecting back off t...

I love how you use descriptive words in this poem 'wide and round and soft as morning','feathered serpents on jaguar pads'. At first i was a bit worried that this might be more prose than poem, but when i re-read i realised what you were saying. It is a bit jerky at the end that is the only thing i found uncomfortable, maybe a different word instead of and, perhaps 'yet' may make it scan a bit better. But that is just my opinion. All in all i found it a wonderful emotive piece.
starts of slow but ends with a crescendo. amusing entertaining yes. hey i like this quirkiness. more please.
