I’m here to grow through putting some work out there and seeing what comes and by being impacted by others writing. I’ve been dabbling with words for a while. Different genres: poetry, spoken word, sci-fi, philosophy, children’s books, illustrated books for for big kids too. Urbis appears to be a beautiful attempt at a genuine on-line community. nice.

April 7th- Carney Day The extravagant festivities of Carney Day were marred this year by a riot involving 200 freaks reveling in central park. Inspectors were called to the Silvers big top, a little after beer o’clock, to pacify the group of predominately bearded women. According to eye-witnesses a bout of facial-hair pulling had begun and cries of,’she’s a man,’ soon led to a large, hairy stacks on. Inspectors soothed the mob by singing Simon and Garfunkel songs and the merriment quickly res...

Poetry / half hearted
Hey i loved this! I enjoyed the rhythm and cadence from the outset and can hear it flowing into many different types of songs. It felt poetic and rich in metaphor while maintaining that sometimes difficult balance of being elusive yet not vague. I especially enjoyed the framing and the imagery of the first two lines. I can see and feel this as well it setting a great scene for the piece. The content seems to be also coming from a position of strength and rather than passive reaction and emoti...
There is a lot of pain here and longing and you convey that well. It does read more like song lyrics than poetry which may be semantics, except that in this case I would prefer to be hearing the poem with music accompanying it. There does feel to be some detail missing that may have helped me to relate to what was occurring. To be honest I did struggle from the opening line as it is a metaphor that is familiar and that made me tune out a little. I also wasn't sure why, '..why I must die.'? It...
Journal, Diary, & Blogging / GOD Part 2: The Terminator films
Ok dude, Nice piece. Not nearly as amusing as your God rant. Actually, not amusing at all. It was sort of boring really. I've seen all the movies and I love them in all their corny glory. That still didn't help me relate to your comments. Still I read it all i guess and it flowed well, and kept a consistent pace.

Well, i tried to read it by your notes for review but I got stuck at point 8. Actually, I got stuck at point 7 but I was prepared to let that one slide. The fact that you wrote this at work makes it even more enjoyable to read. Personal beliefs aside, I'm not sure how to critique a journal/blog type entry. Except to say I love reading it, laughed often and appreciated the depth of some of your questions. Thanks for writing.
Sci Fi & Fantasy / A Death in the Family
Wow! very impressive. It had me hooked from the beginning and you kept up the intrigue and pace throughout. You opened well with the ,'Uncle Sandy truly scared me.' line. It gives the piece so much to go off and creates that first intrigue. I found your descriptions rich and coherent, detailed and believable and flowing comfortably. I liked how you introduced the elements of horror slowly at first, laying the character of Sandy. I also found it powerful as it jumped to the 2nd paragraph and g...
