more of a hack with little literary training beyond growing up a fan of hiphop since its onset and some occasional mentoring from a great friend, mentor and once new york times fellow for poetry “Gregory Pardlo”. Although I often have some form of cryptic direction/message, what i write is geared for the spoken word. the sonority and cadence are of greater importance to me. i have seen some improvement in staying on message when i go minimal.
outside of writing, i dj, make music and always aim to live a life of risk and random madness oft worthy of a tale to be scripted.

Great use of a classic form. When reading, I felt as though I was thrown back well into the past. Have you thought about expanding on this?
I liked how this took a new avenue to the empowerment type of poem. Risky in the sense that many will shun such work unless in a similar position but I think this kind of stuff is great to put out there because you never know who might need such words at any given time.
Enjoyed the lyrical flow of this but I'm not sure I'm getting the personal connotations referenced unless this is along the lines of an individual stuck in a bad relationship of codependency where they are left a rung below there other. I suggest a more in depth description of how this individual has found themselves as the carpet beneath.
Not sure if you'll find this remark positive or not; these words read and feel similar to how I write so I suppose I'm biased in saying I enjoyed this. The first verse and its flow stood out to me. Overall I can relate to being caught up in the novelties of the day while other thoughts, ideals, etc. dwell buzzing about one's brain.
