Limericks / Owning God
Version 1
1 Review   1 Comment
Claiming that God is found in one holy book Is the act of a selfish, closed-minded crook. For what our God taught Would all be for naught If we fail to see Him wherever we look.

Poetry / A True Princess
Version 1
10 Reviews   8 Comments
Some believe just because princesses are pretty They deserve special treatment and people’s respect. But the life of a princess is often gritty, Full of suffering, their lives very nearly wrecked. Ignorant crowds will judge and jealous hags curse you; I’m sure Aurora, Belle, and Snow White would agree. Bitter biddies will gossip, shallow suitors woo, Like those Cinderella and Ariel did flee. A true princess not only possesses beauty But prizes her virtues and always stays humble. She is true ...

It is said the burden is light; Not true. It is said the way is clear; Not true. It is said death is dead; Not true. The yoke is crippling, The way dimly lit, and My end quite real. But the grace that gets whispered in my ear Eases, Guides, Abides. It is enough, Though it leaves me wanting more.

Why am I comforted calling you my man my soldier my master Yet secretly ashamed to be named your boy your baby your bitch? I cannot deny that I feel your strength your protection your control Or freely give to you my play my trust my will; Nor can I claim you have been selfish cold abusive. We’ve discussed, agreed they’re only games roles words; So why am I not comfortable dancing on the line that separates fantasy and reality? Can you tell me my man my soldier my master? ‘Cause I’m dancing w...

Poetry / Blessed

When I wake in the desert I stop And recall the Sound of chains breaking Power of seas parting Taste of sweet manna Welcome weight of law and Gifts gained from sacrifice. And by the time the sun sets I again am a white-haired child of Canaan Sated with Milk & honey Angels’ song and Promises fulfilled. I don’t know what doubts and fears Plague my sleep, But I am not afraid, because once awake I can shrug off drugged dreams And look forward to Bare feet Holy ground, and the Face of God.

Help me to understand what goes into the denial of a chiseled Greek God bearing deific gifts? Granted, Princess, bedroom bartering can be tricky. A bauble for a blossom seems a fair trade to most. Were you too naïve to know booty begets booty? Whether jewelry or fidelity, cash or affection… Tacit or explicit, the agreement is there. That’s just business…social contracting. Were you playing prima donna, criticizing what flaws you could find? Did you spot a blemish on the creamy taut tarp drape...

Poetry / Mark of Cain
Version 1
3 Reviews   3 Comments
God was kind to brand Cain with his dark truth, visible to all; saving his soul by souring his youth. Even innocents plainly recognize a dangerous man; when killing can’t be cloaked in coy smiling guise. Warm maidens, careworn widows were aware, invited freely perilous passion of a beast laid bare. What of the invisible invader, the silent stalker, bearing blood stained blood seen only in vein? Silence abuses beauty, trounces trust, and delivers death with grim, lingering reapers born of lust...
