I believe, it's a good piece, excellent journalism. And even although you make it too personal, telling the readers about the names, and other additional info about your family, it's very sensible and sensitive, anyway. I mean, if I were an editor I would print it. It's good, because it shows us the emotions of a people who lived there, was there, saw it! You've put enough effort and emotion in it. I liked it! Good luck with your futures work!:D
I wonder, were you serious writing this article? I mean, you make some interesting points, intrigue your reader... but.. it seems that you're kidding in the end. The work is quite good and interesting. Therefore, thanks for sharing
I think it's quite good essay, I really really liked it, but if you want it to be published (as you say it your "goals" section), then you've definitely have to work on it more. Talk not only about symbols...make it even better than it is...we always want things perfect, don't we?? This is very near to perfection ^____^ Good job!
I think you have to find an agent and get this piece published, because it's really good and makes a lot of important points. Actually, I have never been and have never lived in America, but I am sure that problem with the commercials and children/teenagers getting under its pressure is met not only there. I enjoyed it) Keep it up)
