I've just come home from a Bach-filled, Oregon roller coaster. I auditioned three months ago for the Youth Choral Academy in Eugene, Oregon during the Oregon Bach Festival. I learned the music, went, and had an amazing time. I met great people, did great things, the usual. But it's always the night after that it hits you. I made a pretty good friend while there. And i miss her. I miss the non-stop rehearsing, the thrill of performing when you're totally unprepared, and the satisfaction of suc...

Oh, NPR, you never cease to amuse But to not all do you seem a muse I love your smooth voices And reports on the choices that our leaders made that day With Carl Cassel in teh morn In a voicde that seems forlorn The headlines are read To get me out of bed Then Melissa Block with the Morning Edition That lights up my face as I wander into my kitchen Reading the news paper while she discusses Things from fashion trends to blown up busses During my day at school, how I miss you But on the car ri...

this was really good. i quite enjoyed the vignette qualities of each note. the fact that so much is implied i think makes the story that much better. plus i'm heavily into music (i do chorus though), and i know what it's like to be in music school. keep working on this, or this arena of work.
this is really a good start. the metaphor between relationships and making deals is really impacting, and really strong, but at times confusing. there are a few vague lines such as 'they may be on to something' in the seventh stanza. but the imagery is good, and is really thought-provoking.
this is reallly good. i liked how you set up the scene and slowly the reader begins to realize that the wife is not alive anymore. and how she is still there with her family before she goes up to heaven. the descriptions were good, and the sense of being somewhere and not being seen, and the sadness that enveloped the family after she died was really well portrayed. forgive me, for i am extremely detail oriented, but there was a spot with the dialogue between the two nurses. it was a little u...
i really liked this! i love haiku, and its concise yet detailed description. and i think you pretty much nailed it. if you read it once you see the blackbird. if you read it twice, you see the parallels to vultures. if you read it thrice, you see the metaphorical parallels to vultures. good job.
i really like this actually. its very haunting and it reminds me of this story i was listening to on npr about how when people die, their years of life get diminished to something pocket sized. or in this case suitcase sized.
