A good part of that 3 hours staring up after Ashley had fallen fast asleep was spent dealing with an anxiety that had been common to Sid for most every Saturday evening of his life. The struggle was on. Sid knew that once his eyes closed to invite sleep into his life that when he next opened them that he would be on the verge of dealing with church again. Dealing with church was accurate as a description in Sid’s estimation. Almost always it started with Sid contemplating whether he had actua...

As a 5 year old, Sid always smiled, publicly and privately. Things came easy for him at school, so he tried where he saw fit. He was popular with the teachers and students. He had a mop of blonde hair and beautiful eyes which were deeper than the ocean and bluer than tears. Sid was relatively tall and slender. Despite his height, he was not physically imposing but he had a Sea Biscuit size heart that made him an omnipotent force to be reckoned with. His grammar school had no cafeteria so stud...

Ever since Sid spoke his first word, he had the urge to clam up. Ever since Sid spoke his first word, few people in the family, neighborhood, school and even at work called him Sid. His first word spoken became his lifelong nickname. He was almost two years old and hadn’t spoken. His parents were concerned, as good parents are apparently supposed to be, that he hadn’t spoken yet. Sid, however, remained detached as he simply had nothing to say. About a month before his second birthday, Sid pla...

When angry or frightened when nothing is said the energy field of that person is red. If someone is bumming and looking quite down the energy field of that person is brown. Look at a thoughtful, dynamic young fellow the energy field of that person is yellow. If excited and alive but not rhyming with orange the energy field of that person is orange. When you see someone loving or clearly serene the energy field of that person is green. You meet someone learning whose inspiring too the energy f...

I picked up the Bible looking for answers I read it and now I’ve got a few questions How did the religion become so exclusive? Why do the members cast stones at non-members? So I picked up the Gita looking for answers I read it and still am left with some questions How can the followers live without love? What could result in a war from that book? I kept reading more books that claimed to have answers And all I was finding was numerous questions Aren’t we all sort of in this together? When di...

This was interesting and contained a number of strong points. The concept of a reality show around the government is priceless. I love the idea of making Dick Cheney (the Big Dick, thank you Robin Williams! well done, seriously, that's hilarious) the subject. I like the idea of bringing out the back scratching way that the government is run and is so clearly on display right now. I think it's great that you are citing actual examples and statistics because it educates effortlessly because the...

I really like how you are clearly contemplative. You do seem to be leaning towards believing in good/bad, dark/light, etc. and inside of it tend to be looking at the dark.... Is either way referring to one way being you hate someone and the other being someone grows on you? This also suggests that you don't really get a feel for someone when you meet them. I also think you might find that encounters with art is as full of chance meeetings and happenings, loss and discovery as encounters with ...
I really liked your description of East Texas in terms of not knowing where one city starts and another ends. I was a little confused as to what it meant that neighboring communities claimed affiliation to Gladewater one week only to claim that they weren’t the next. I’m sure there is something to it, I just don’t know what. I also like the description of the city being a landmark denoting distance from another bigger town. However, do you mean people would say Dallas is x miles away from Gla...
