Born in Canada in 1963, I was transplanted to the U.S. in 1965. From 1984 through 1994 I worked in healthcare and in medical publishing.

Although I did some fun stuff along the way—-like doing horror book reviews for Publisherss Weekly, helping to organize the Bram Stoker Awards, developing a Writers Digest book with Mort Castle for the Horror Writers Association called Writing Horror, etc., there was a huge divide, though, between my personal philosophy on health (especially holistic healing) and the mainstream medical (establishment) ideology that I indirectly supported via my work in hospitals and medical publishing.

Born in Canada in 1963, I was transplanted to the U.S. in 1965. From 1984 through 1994 I worked in healthcare and in medical publishing.

Although I did some fun stuff along the way—-like doing horror book reviews for Publisherss Weekly, helping to organize the Bram Stoker Awards, developing a Writers Digest book with Mort Castle for the Horror Writers Association called Writing Horror, etc., there was a huge divide, though, between my personal philosophy on health (especially holistic healing) and the mainstream medical (establishment) ideology that I indirectly supported via my work in hospitals and medical publishing.

I began to crave a work life that matched my personal health and health-empowerment beliefs. Along came an opportunity to serve as editor-in-chief of Better Nutrition magazine from early 1995 (where I had to chance to work with the veteran health journalist, Frank Murray), where I stayed until 2002.

In September 2006 (after a four-year stint as regulatory affairs officer for Nutrition 21), I headed up a group of trade magazines for a year and a half—-and, in January 2008, I began work as the head of communications for Solgar Vitamin and Herb, a company whose products and commitment to education (and quality) I deeply admire and respect.

Somewhere along the way I seem to have published 5 health books, written hundreds of health articles, done over 60 radio interviews, been on FOX-TV health segments, been a media delegate to China in 2001, initiated a number of consumer health grassroots advocacy campaigns, started two blogs, founded a new health magazine (Remedies), appeared in two poetry anthologies, been inducted into the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), not necessarily in that order.
