I liked the references to the other famous songs already out on the market. I had to chuckle when you referred to Otis still wasting your time out on the bay. That was cute. I took the entire song to be one filled with humor. I hope I'm correct in my assumptions. I really liked it. Your song has pizzaz and I think you have talent...so go for it!
I understand where you are coming from with the way the world is today, but a quote is usually something to lift our spirits, not damper them. Next time try to think of something a little more positive to say.
I enjoyed your poem until the very last line, then I was a little confused. Try to find a better ending and you have it made.
Personally, I got caught up in the story. I know that when I'm told this that means that you have a good flow to the story... I also think you did a god job on your characterization. I felt as if both people were right there in front of me acting out this scene. I look forward to reading more of your work.
