This hits me as a clear, sure voice of spiritual reason. It is quite a refreshing change from the usually more murky spiritual verse, and quite thought-provoking. Although first put-off by the "i" by the end I understood the eloquent simplicity.
The story is immediately engaging. The characters are realistic. It pulled me right in to their everyday domestic lives, then, whap, into possible tragedy. Isabel is a very real woman, mother. I can definitely relate to her fantasies and realities, insecurities, desires, fears about her mothering, anger towards her ex and his new woman. You made it real, because it comes right out of real life. You didn't get in the way of that, but presented it sympathetically.

This strikes me as a haunting dream with bits of that scene from Alice with the Duchess and baby that turns into a pig. It drew me in completely and immediately. I can see it as a surreal painting in 3-D, with spacey sound effects. Some glitches: unthoughtful or even unthought-full [in first paragraph] no longer travel smoothly fat-cheeked [last paragraph]
