Silhouette A serene face, those gentle eyes Looked at me. A tangle of incomprehensible visions Between fright and fascination. An always smiling mouth Spoke to me. A fine smell, sweet scent of virtue Awoke me. Memories were rather blurred Dizzied by the thin air, We were simply talking, Laying still. The night swallowed her slender silhouette, Took her in a fleeting moment. Leaving no trace of her existence, My tongue cut out, we did not speak again. A vain hope, sat waiting, For her return. ...

Lyrics / I'm still here

I'm still here Realisation slowly sinks deep, A memento that I keep. Hidden away, for a rainy day, With my two left feet, The tango always did defeat My best intentions. Do chalk and cheese, Ever really appease. Our individual needs. It never really left me clear, Never really lived to fear, Always tried to persevere, 'Cause I'm still here. Don't go implying, Try justifying, That I was never in love. Don't you go saying, That I was just playing, A game we both seemed to have lost. The pain n...

Poetry / The Serpent

The Serpent The serpent's coil unloaded with all it's force, Showing no remorse, It's venom spread like the wind, A whirlwind , underpinned With supernatural strength and speed, Destroying every single seed, That once was planted with genuine hope, That will not cope, When the serpent takes it 's biggest bite. No long awaited call, No note before the fall, No body ever found, No warning light or sound, An exploding fist just punched my face, Leaving only bruised and battered truth, And wasted...

From North to South, And all in between, Which perception, Have you always seen? The maniac, whose zodiac, Defied all stars and premonition, The man inside, whose low tides, Give real definition. The lover of life's dreams The troublesome child who always seems, To have the power to change your mind, Yet longevity remains impossible to find. Potentially , a man in me, Defies the hereditary, Goes against the text book case, Still standing with a smiling face. Supernatural strength, Will go to ...

Poetry / The River

The River Open your eyes, Before you dive, Catch your breath, Before you dive, Clear your thoughts, Before you dive. What were your final memories, As the river took no prisoners. An intimate night, A Childhood sight, Was there light, Up above. Did you ever make it? To the other side, And laugh off Your bravery As your friend waited To share the moment. That night the river flowed, Swallowed you whole. Closed your eyes Took away your breath Filled your mind With final thoughts. Did you ever m...

The personification of sadness is a great way of showing its grip, how it strangles and makes you unable to breath, choking you and not knowing quite how to fight it off. Your language and style show that battle very clearly, only when you have experienced it, can you start to build some of those defences. Good work.

Preferred part one, this seems to have something missing, maybe it is me not quite following from part 1. But the elements are there for all to see.
The way this piece flows, like the actions bestowed upon it. The pauses, the hesitation, reflect the moment s of thought, the suffering, the consumption, leaving me smouldering indeed.

I can very much relate to this, the departure is as incomprehensible then as it is many years later. You have captured the feelings of stability, the smiles, the feeling that all is well as the anticipation grows, almost like a dark shadow looming. I like this just the way it reads.
