Poetry / I sat here and wondered what my life would be..... (Analysis)

I sat here and wondered what my life would be
if I had just said “yes” and followed you to
the brink of death..
Would I have been beside you
telling my story to death?
I glance out the windows and I heard the birds
such shallow things, such heartrenching sounds
and yet inside my soul there is
no songs.. no trail of music..
Would this be my fate if I had taken your hand and
followed you?
Would I entered a imaginary world, where the sounds
of birds echoing my sorrow?
I stepped back, just a flash of the
future and I decided to stay behind…
