you follow me
embedded
in thought and
essence
laced in words
meshed in flesh
and sweat salted
memories
resounding steps
cadent breath
suspended in space and time
within me
even when we are apart
know
that in fleeting moments
between whispered breaths
inaudible wishes
leave behind
indelible traces
drop deceptive guise
let strength give way
to vulnerability
tender ego
crushed by devil’s wing
our lives are
meant to be interlaced
feeding feverishly
tasting voraciously
swallowing up
each other
as if this moment
were to curl up in smoke
for this
is all we will ever have
of each other
and all we are able
to give freely
