Quotes / Occurrences.

”Please. Don’t think in time. It’s way too depressing. Think instead in occurrences. That way it doesn’t seem so trivial after all. That way you can jump happily over all those days in between that blur away in one big, cheery mass of nothingness. No, occurrences. Think in those and it will seem less insubstantial.”

sorta like it’s not the amount of moments in your life, it’s the amount of life in your moments. i like how you ended it with “and it will seem less insubstantial” instead of “more substantial.” makes you think more. nice

Very good. I think it will do very well in quote form because of its point. The part that will most stick in my head is “Don’t think in time. Think instead in occurances.” After all, that is what makes a quote a quote – memorability. It’s one of those quotes that allow you to think way after you’ve read it too. It’s got it all.
Yes, I did like that one.
Thanks for sharing.

If everyone could apply this to their live I’m sure we would all be much much happier. I know I would. Great words of advice, especially coming from someone who’s as young as you.

Yes its not really a quote, perhaps more like words of wisdom.  It would be interesting to use this in a memoir since it describes what a memoir is (compared with an autobiography).

I think this is a very good idea to get across, but I think you could sharpen up the way you do it. It’s great to think in occurrences, I agree, because like you said, you can easily forget about all the empty time in-between.
Linear time is the construct of modern man, which is why it’s depressing like the rest of the false realities we’ve instituted.

It’s a little oblique and I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. In sentence 4 the syntax is off and it doesn’t make sense, ”...all those days in between that blur away in one big, cheery mass…?” What does it mean not to think in time? It should be explained. Occurrences occur in time, in sequence, how can you not think of time when you think of an occurrence? And by the way you’ve spelled occurrence wrong throughout. And what will seem less insubstantial? It’s not clear here either what you mean. What is the point you are trying to make? Interesting but not clear yet.
