You have a few problems.  ”that is considered” is passive and can be deleted.

Beyond that, the whole makes little sense as you’ve worded it.  You seem to be referring to great works of art that challenge convention, like Monet’s.  But Monet’s work is not considered “normal” now, it is considered rare and outstanding.  True it was considered unconventional and even degenerate at the end of the 19th century, but “abnormal” doesn’t capture that sense either.  And anyway, its a dubious assertion that Monet or other artists create with concepts of normal or abnormal as their motivation.

Overall, because the ambiguity and lack of specificity in your language, I can refute the quote simply by saying this.  ”I created a coffee cup from clay.  I knew it would be normal when I created it.  It is normal now.”  Do you see?  You really need to find much more precise language and pay better attention to logic if you want to write an aphorism with such a grand artistic point.

why would it be abnormal and yet considered normal? it might be a new fashion that shocks people at first and becomes commonplace in time, but if thats what you i think you should say it better. otherwise i totally dont get this quote

I like what you are tring to do here.  Its creative, thought-provoking, and true.  However, I think the wording is off some.  I would say … considered normal, you must first realize that it will be abnormal.  This flows better and keeps the same message.

Good luck!

I found this quote in my Sociology textbook from highschool. Great quote, I bet the author thought so too.

Isn’t a quote that I would use. Maybe if some word were to be switched around. “To create something that is normal, you must first realize it may be abnormal.”

I’m not sure that is necessarily true.
Over all though, good work.

Ahh the good old ‘normal isn’t normal’ vs ‘abnormal is normal’ issue. The idea isn’t new, however, I did quite enjoy your choice of wording. It does certainly get one thinking, is it normal? is it not?
Thanks for sharing.
