Poetry / School Days (Analysis)
The air is crisp
The wind is warm
You’re walking now
On your way home
Almost there
You’re on your way
You look back now on
Your first school day
Enter the building
Doors open wide
You wait in the gym
Your well inside
The first bell rings
The halls will crowd
They begin to talk
It gets real loud
In the classroom
In a desk
Some people are learning
Some taking a rest
The teacher is patient
As well as strict
All is quiet
The clock will tick
The edge of your seat
The bell will ring
The tension will spread
The heat will sting
A crowd is gathering
By the door
You start to sweat
Your feet are sore
A sudden ring
The crowd is gone
Go to your locker
Humming a song
Pack you books
Put on the straps
A drink of water
From the tap
Out the door
Of which you came
Nothing changed
It’s all the same
Put on your suit
Go for a swim
Wait till tomorrow
It will begin again.
