A thoughtful piece.
When I here drums they represent beating heart and excite in a soldiers.
But also it could signal death to the weaker opponent.

I like this in general, and I like the underlying harshness and matter of fact way it comes across.

sorta how funeral efforts are really only for the guests not the deceased.
That is very true, the dead cannot hear the drums beat only the living can have their ears graced with such a sound, and that is simply how it goes. Thank you for sharing that with me. However I believe it would work better written like this, “Drums don’t sound for the dead, they are for the living.” With a comma instead of a semi colon.

I am not sure about the purple hearts, seem to make it long. The quote about the eyes of eternity is awesome as well.
Do you think that roll would sound better than vibrate?
Other than the word “folk” which sounds too silly, quite thought-provoking.
what? i don’t understand what purple hearts are supposed to be. i find it hard to even know what you’re referring to. something about a quality of life?
