Journalism / B33920: The Number Of The Beast (Analysis)
Fear. Hate. Brutality. Loathing. Disgust. These emotions are synonymous with one man in particular’s name. That man is Charles Manson. However, another emotion arises along with those mentioned, an emotion that does not quite fit with the rest of the group. The emotion is excitement. One cannot deny, that at the mention of this man’s great evil, a sense of curiosity sparks within them. We thirst for more. More of his life story. More interviews with family members. More bloody details of the methods used to dispatch of the victims.
This curiosity leads some of us to delve deeper into the life of this madman. Upon doing so, one will discover some rather startling details. The biography of an almost average human being. Manson had even mad a name for himself on the Los Angeles music scene, working with members of the Beach Boys. Yet, he is remembered for none of this. We think of him as a cold – blooded, insane killer. In fact, he did even personally execute the crimes of which he is accused. Oh, certainly the undeniably tragic events would not have occurred without his guidance and dark prophecies, but those that died, died not by his hand. I am by no means defending this man’s innocence, but merely providing an alternate perspective upon things.
