Short Story / Dating Stories (Analysis)

My Dating Stories

Dating hmmm…While exciting it can also have its downside. I guess in the end we date to sift through the pile to find what we’re looking for. In this story I’ll be candid to an extent and give you insight on some of my most memorable dating woes from the past.

Guy1- We’ll call him “Wise Man”.While dating him was exciting because he was older(37yrs). He was too intense in good ways and bad. There was no physical attraction, everything was mental. I loved how he took care of me emotionally but hated how he tried to control my thought process sometimes. This man knew women and what made them tick He had romanced me in a way I couldnt even begin to explain(some grown man shit). There was definately fire in some areas but we could not go long without an argument. Now in hind sight I do believe I was the cause of alot (not all)of the fights. He was trying to teach me and I was too young to understand him fully. This didnt last long…...but I must admit that I learned alot from my time with him.

Guy2- This one wow….I’ll call him the “Clinger”!! When I first saw him on the train platform…I was like “Damnnn he is fine as hell”!! We saw each other everyday for 4 weeks and just exchanged glances. It was exciting. He finally approached me and we exchanged numbers. I was so happy! On our first date I was extremely turned off by the fact that he turned into a total bitch. He was entirely too senstive and I knew this could never work. Sometimes I wished he could just stand there and look cute>>DONT TALK!! lol Sorry but true. I stopped taking his calls when he turned borderline stalker. I think my personality was too strong and didnt match well with his at all. He would be a great man but not for me. I CANT BE TOUGHER THAN THE MANlol!!

Guy3- We’ll name this guy “Prof/Hood”.This guys blew my mind from the first date. Although a bit cliche this fucker had me at hello…lol I loved this quiet seductive look he possessed. Mind you he is not the type I normally date. I like really big 6’3+ brown papi’s. He was the complete opposite slim and light skin under 6ft but I could not get over how interested I became. I felt like he had the type of personality to keep me in check, which really turned me on. He was cool but serious and sometimes a bit intimidating but I loved it. My favorite thing was that when he talked he really seemed sincere. This however ended on a bad note due to a decision I deeply regret. I always wonder about him. Ladies never let loneliness drive you to make a bad decision, think long run.

Guy4- We’ll call him “Da friend”....I smile when I think of him. Meeting him at the time that I did I can say kept me sane. I was emotionally shattered and he always knew not to push. It was a relationship of convenience.I guess the way it started gave way to the way it ended. Although I know he cared for me I dont think he really ever appreciated me fully. I wont lie I was crazy about him…he was more than a friend but he was just as confused as I was. This lasted way longer than it should have. At one point I just wanted more out of the relationship and he didnt. I never blamed him, I know he wasnt ready. He was a bit younger than me and they always feel like they might miss out on something. I had to close my eyes and walk away or there’s no telling how long it could of gone on. I will always keep him in my heart though…a very special kind of dude!!

Guy5 “Hot Breath”- This may have been the shortest date ever. We met through a friend and I was set up on a blind, which I hate!! I am far too picky for a blind date. I sometimes think this was a joke. He picks me up and we exchange a brief awkward hug in the car. From that second I got a wiff of the hot breath. He seemed to not notice that his breath was making me dizzy and was the reason I asked him to open my passenger window in 30 degree weather. This is when I started to plot my escape as he talked endlessly about himself. It was a terrible experience and girls if you do go on a blind date it is essential that you have an escape plan!

Dating has been interesting and though I do enjoy meeting new people, I do look forward to the time when there will be a constant figure in my life that will love me unconditionally>>THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY! Until then I’ll enjoy the single life.

Some spacing after punctuation issues.  One space after commas, two after periods.  The Expository Writing crowd will nail you for extended periods (.....)  as well as a double exclamation mark.  One is bad enough.  Cyberspace abbreviations are still a no no (I think) but depends on the audience.  You used LOL way too often.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE ALL CAPITALS

I enjoyed this but it is not a short story, it more blog or journal.  Still, you have an easy and light hearted style that should serve you well.  And forgive my formal approach to the craft, but I almost became a Rutgers English Professor once upon a time and the stamp of the Menkin Men is hard to shake.
