The River
Open your eyes,
Before you dive,
Catch your breath,
Before you dive,
Clear your thoughts,
Before you dive.
What were your final memories,
As the river took no prisoners.
An intimate night,
A Childhood sight,
Was there light,
Up above.
Did you ever make it?
To the other side,
And laugh off
Your bravery
As your friend waited
To share the moment.
That night the river flowed,
Swallowed you whole.
Closed your eyes
Took away your breath
Filled your mind
With final thoughts.
Did you ever make it?
To the other side
And watch yourself
Dive in.
