Lyrics / I'm still here

I’m still here

Realisation slowly sinks deep,
A memento that I keep.
Hidden away, for a rainy day,
With my two left feet,
The tango always did defeat
My best intentions.

Do chalk and cheese,
Ever really appease.
Our individual needs.
It never really left me clear,
Never really lived to fear,
Always tried to persevere,
‘Cause I’m still here.

Don’t go implying,
Try justifying,
That I was never in love.
Don’t you go saying,
That I was just playing,
A game we both seemed to have lost.

The pain never really goes away,
Not even pills fill my day.
Just supplement a growing void,
Running further from the cause.
Intervened by a pause,
Stops me dead, every time.

Every memory evoked,
Hottest embers stoked,
Burn like a blue flame.

It’s never really left me clear
‘Cause I’m still here.
Never really lived to fear,
‘Cause I’m still here
Always tried to persevere
And I’m still here.

Don’t go implying,
Try justifying,
That I was never in love.
Don’t you go saying,
That I was just playing,
A game we both seemed to have lost.

Never go saying
That I was just playing,
A game I could never have won.
