For those who don’t venture to the front line then fantasy machismo dressed up as bravado is probably the next best thing.

I like the quote a lot. I have seen similar quotes which are referring to religion, but to me this seems unique and would certainly give a good indication of the character’s perspective. Grammatically, I would probably write it exactly the same way, though I think many people would say the comma is unnecessary.

Your book…heh…
If this is a dark character within your book, it says a lot about who he is, and his ignorance. I have just read a poem written by a soldier who has killed the enemy in Iraq, and the poem pretty much talked about the damage that the killing has done to his heart. If this is what your character is, then it is perfect for him to say that. Good luck
What? That doesn’t make sense to me. You LIKE the killing that goes along to achieve peace? Maybe you were being sarcastic, or maybe you just like war and violence, which is sick.
And honestly, although people say that all the time, if you want peace you must prepare for war, i don’t think that’s true at all as we don’t have peace and we are at war right now.
You know—it’s true. To get to peace there has to be blood shed in the eyes of men. It’s terrible, but how it is.
It sounds like a line from a sinister villian I would like to see what it is attached to. A little demented I wonder what kind of charecter in your book said these words.
WOW.
this is insanely accurate.
we hide war behind peace hoping no one will notice the bulge underneath the rug.
the only think i like about peace is that its just a witty punchline to a terrible joke.
keep sharing!
I don’t like this quote.
It’s sad. =/
Okay so out of all the quotes I have read now, this is my new favorite. I think that nothing should change. It is actually very dark from the authors perspective…
killing is a strong word but used good.
Made the brutal side of me chuckle in appreciation. Great line.
My only offer for improvement: delete ‘that’ from this line and the rest of your writing. It’s a word that isn’t needed in this context, and only slows the reader down. I always do a ‘search and replace’ for this word when I’m done writing anything of length. It’s a first-draft-only word.
