Poetry / Addicted to Love
The incense of cigarette smoke rejuvenates his aura
As the tingling sensation renders his fingers immobile.
Hungry for his drug of choice
He reclines in a corner and begins to sob.
With legs quivering, face sweating
The room begins to whirl.
Overwhelmed by his addiction
He decides to call for help
Yet withdrawal has collected his memories.
Friends abandoned, loved ones forgotten
His heart pounds in unison with the song on the stereo.
Desperation takes his breath.
While lying on the cold linoleum floor,
He feels the blackness closing in as he whispers
If only she had loved me.

As I read this line “Yet withdrawal has collected his memories”, something in me said “Wow!” I think that’s how it should be for every form of art. Well done.
