I’ve seen the eyes of the darkest night
And felt its eerie breath
The sliding touch of its too cold hands
Has brought me close to death
But in the arms of these nightmare nights
I find the most perfect dreams
Joy and pain and love and delight
But nothing is quite what it seems
Dreaming soft and dreaming sweet
I stumble in my sleep
And all my dreams become my life
And I’m captured somewhere deep
Somewhere far in the distance
I catch a glimpse of the man
The one who knows what our dreams are
And he’s holding mine in his hand
I see him flinging the shuttle
Strung with the color of fear
Then replace it after a while
With thread that is almost clear
He’s weaving peace into my dreams
Then switching thread once more
And bringing passion to my mind
With garnet flashes of a crimson door
On and on he weaves for me
Every color and every hue
And that is when I realize
There is much here for me to do
Dreaming soft and dreaming sweet
I dreamed his face for when we meet
And I settle softly at his feet
And his voice so smooth repeats
“These are the dreams I weave for thee.”
