Poetry / Mother and Son's Love Song (Analysis)

SENSUALITY:

I look at you and love what you have become.
You are a young man with principle and respect my beautiful son

Yeah, there has been times when upside your head I would go.

It was just my way of saying “baby slow your roll”

Don’t grow too fast, the world is a vast place with much to digest.

Always do what’s right and nevermind the rest.

That is the advice I have always given you

to prepare you when you move on.

So let’s consider this collaboration a Mother and Son’s Love Song.

SENSUALITY’S SON:

Mother of mine

At times I may have been Cain to your Eve

I’ve been able to mature

cuz I was raised by a Queen

No one else can be of any threat to the place in my heart.

That’s where you’ve been since the start

and only physically we can part.

I know we’ve both suffered losses

from my family to my street brothers.

Though we both shared pain,

I was there through the loss of your mother.

I know she can look down at us and smile

and have no fear of us falling.

We can too, as if she was still here

I know the bad times have been calling.

From the past times through the years

there’s been tears

but, if we continue to look up

my Queen, they will disappear.

Yes I look at you as royalty

the cradle of my life,

strong as any woman warrior

and value beyond a price

SENSUALITY:

My son yes there have been hard times,

and in you I have seen Cain.

But with my love and wisdom

I have guided u through the hardest rains.

Even held you and erased your your pain.

But it only made us stronger

I am the vessel that brought you here

and as a young man you will need me

no longer to protect you from harm.

The world is yours now

Son give to it peace, knowledge and calm.

The choices you make are now your own

as well as the repercussions.

Make your judgements with much

consideration and always

walk with caution.

Never take life for granted

as its given, its taken away.

You are my Gift from God

that I thank him for everyday.

I am with you till my heart stops beating

and even after that I will be there to guide you.

So when you’re troubled and don’t’ know what to do remember, my love for you will forever keep you strong.

If you ever feel the need for me and I am not here, just place your hand to your heart and hum the words to our Mother and Son’s Love Song.

  Truthfully, this is one of the most beautiful poems/songs in the world b/c it was created by the relationship b/t a mother an her son. I like how you kept it simple, but it expressed much about your lives; ex. “I was there through the loss of your mother” and “but in you I have seen Cain”.
  And I love how you two are referred to as Sensuality and Sensuality’s Son or ManChild.
  This is a but small portion of what you two could create based on your bond w/ each other and your love for each other. I look forward to more, and I appreciate the honor and privelege to read this.
