Poetry / To My "Best Friend" (Analysis)
My world is on fire,
I feel the end is near,
There’s nothing you can do,
So just sit back and drink your beer.
Not that you could have done anything to stop this,
Lord knows you never could,
You never really gave a damn,
Even though you know you should.
We were good in the beginning,
Something like conjoined twins,
But now all we do is fight silent wars,
And no one ever wins.
Your lips always preach your love,
Saying to the end of the world,
But I can see the truth in your eyes,
It speaks your mind unfurled.
You didn’t call me when you said you would,
You said it was because you were sick,
But do you consider it an illness,
If you’re just sitting on some guy’s dick?
You ignored my calls for help,
Even though you saw me drowning,
You just walked by this ocean,
And stood there frowning.
Now I’m getting tired of all the hate,
Let me tell about our love,
I used to love you with all my heart,
But when I got close you just shoved.
You’re probably wondering why I’m writing this,
You thought everything was going swell,
But our friendship has faded,
And gone to the depths of hell.
I’m so sorry that it had to be this way,
We could’ve made this last,
But it’s all gone now,
All we have is our past.
Now I say this final farewell,
You were my best friend and my sister,
I will never forget our time together,
Even though it is now just a whisper.

What I liked about this is that you displayed true emotions. It reminded me of my daughter and her best friend who just had a falling out after 14 years of Friendship.Your poem depicts what alot of friends go through and I think it would be well percieved by many readers.

WOW, this was very good…even though some parts are aimed at a friendship between to girls. While reading this I thought about my ex Bff from the 10th. Going through something like this is horrible, becuase you really want to hold on to your other half, but can’t
