Journalism / Cry,Cry,Cry

Cry Cry Cry

There they lay beneath us only a couple of feet down under asleep in their dreams
Sons, fathers, husbands, brothers and friends lefted the borders of New Zealand without any knowledge of what was before them.
Time had passed like the shadows of our enemies.
Days slowly turned to months and months crucially grew to years.
The tomorrow’s were always filled with fear and death
An inescapable fate for our poor brothers
No man’s land wasn’t getting any smaller
The heat of the night became the sniper’s best friend, the break of dawn were the comrades worst enemy
Sitting anxiously at home were the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, loved ones and friends hoping for the return of their loved one
Only to find a not so comforting telegram reporting an M.I.A or even worse a K.I.A
Since then so many years have passed since the dreadful war in Vietnam
And underneath all that mesmerising grass, still lay stained and affected the blood of all those who died to save the man next to them
And still! Our forefathers have not been acknowledged
What has the world come to?
Where is the pride and dignity in this country?
I use to be proud and priveledged to be apart of this country and now I’m not so sure
I mean I know every country has their ups and downs but cmon!
We’re talking thousands, and thousands of men here not only our country but the others involved as well
The government can recognise how many arses they had to kiss to support our country
And yet they can not acknowledge our brothers , our soldiers, our comrades who fought in a dead end war
I am disgusted, apalled and fucken pissed off.
There are still those today who fight for the recognition and acknowledgement of those men, our men, our forefathers who bled for this country.
I hope our forefathers who lay in slumber can be rest assured that they didn’t die for nothing, but for their freedom and those around them.

Plato quoted:” Only the dead have seen the end of war”

And I couldn’t agree more

I certainly agree with the sentiment behind this entire piece, even the American soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War got the bad end of an already harsh stick when their government refused to recognize them as veterans. This piece of journalism for me seemed to illustrate the reality of all wars as being morally abhorrent while managing to emphasize the detestable particularities of the Vietnam War. The only thing that detracts from this kind of writing on the topic is the shear volume of similar writings that are littered throughout western society, my advice there would be to keep and eye out and make sure that you differ your words in some way from the majority of other such journalistic pieces.

well written , i love the start it doesnt seem like a random pissed off rant at the hands of anti-establishment , just more of a deep seeded anger stemming from experiance.

This is a very strong piece and points out how little has changed over the years. Instead of learning from mistakes the governments of our countries make major ones over and over again. Innocent men and women are still dying for nothing. Very well written and I could agree with the quote more.

So true. Unfortunately, we’re seeing much the same here in the U.S. There was a time when I was proud to be an American; but, now, I’m not so sure.

Technically-speaking, Cry Cry Cry needs to be proofread. For example: “Since then so many years have passed since the dreadful war in Vietnam” uses “since” in a double clarifier.

Its a touchy subject but I think all soldiers dead or alive should be appreciated and its good that you are pointing that out to the world. I think this is an important article that should be seen somewhere for sure. And you did a great job getting emotions across. All in all I have to say good job. I didn’t read like any other article I ever read though, more like an unrhyming poem, but I understand you did that for effect so once again good job.

Wow, this is great. This is what journalism is about-to tell the truth in a matter and stir the hearts of men to take action.

Besides some of the grammar and missing punctuation, this is a intellectual piece. Just some fine tuning is needed.  But overall, the point of view you are taking on is coming across.

I can’t tell if this is meant to be an opinion piece or just fiction… Well written but what is it?
