Journal, Diary, & Blogging / The good news: it's a raise
Okay, so the good news is I got a “merit” raise this year. The bad news- my merits’s only worth an extra $0.24/hr. That’s miniscule- that’s only (before taxes) an extra $499.20 over the course of the whole year. And it doesn’t even have the dignity of being a normal number – like 25 cents or 20 cents – no, “somebody parsed out exactly how much more you were worth, honey, and you just didn’t quite make the U.S. Quarter!” I would actually have preferred being given no raise to the insult of being given a nonsensical one. Giving me this implies that not quite the purchase price of a lollipop is some kind of reward to me. And what is worst of all, my boss didn’t let me find this in the mail – no, he came and brought me the letter himself. I put in a lot of really hard work and was told I’d get a significant increase. I suppose our ideas of what- and who- is significant aren’t exactly the same!

As far as blogs go, this one is rather funny for such a dismal topic. I think your sarcastic approach makes the situation seem a little more light hearted, but beware because it can also make you seem melodramatic, something no author truly wants to be. cute. <3 ames plaza.
