Poetry / Fade To Black.
Smoke..
...signals
sirens…
to come
wailing
in agony
...murderer…
frantically
alerting police
maybe
for me…
...most likely
for he
as chimneys
huff & puff up
emotional ashes
because
fires were
overly
flared
...sparked…
by
minuscule side projects
that got just
too hot
too close…
to
cinders
comfort zone
this
was
our
HOME!
this
relationship
slowly burned
as flames tap danced along
battered
hearts
insides
turned
to that color….
...black…
color of the sky
when you would
creep back home
after heavy soot
had settled within
my lungs
& after tears trickled
from strangulation
withholding
smoldering bonfires
in pits of my stomach
like
black…
bubbling cauldrons
that were concocting
recipes fit for
hell…
still having no fury
like a woman scorned
forcing
smoke
to
signal
sirens
sadly
wailing
in agony
...murderer…
wasn’t he
murderer
being me…

Interesting piece. Good descriptions, with fire being an excellent metaphor of the emotional turmoil involved in this failing relationship. The ending is somewhat confusing. The reader’s emotional response would be better if the cheating partner were further delineated. I like the title of this poem.
