Action Adventure / Sword Of The Spirit: The Shadow of Earth--Chapter one

Sweet Revenge
It is almost 5:00 and most of the ordinary Cleveland citizens are getting off from their eight-hour shifts.  Gabriel is walking down 156th street when he hears a noise.
SMASH!  A window is busted in with a rock.  ”Come on out old man!” An eighteen year-old male shouts.  He is wearing a tight leather jacket with tassels freely dangling from his shoulders. His torn up khaki pants have the back left pocket torn off.  The string of his red-striped Converse sneakers lay motionless on the pavement.  Standing upright, the boy was nearly six feet with jet-black hair and sapphire blue eyes like the ocean.
Gabriel recognized the voice and the unmistakable leather jacket; the elephant on the back was one of a kind.  It was the leader of the gang that had killed his brother Abram.  This was the perfect time to strike the one who had taken his brother.  Gabriel runs in punching with a strong right hook smashing hard into the gang leader’s jaw.  It caught him completely off guard and forces him to stumble backwards as he nearly loses his footing.  He scurried up from the ground and jolts right for Gabriel.  The gang leader runs in slinging punches, first a right uppercut and then a left that landed hard on Gabriel’s lip.  He fell to the ground as blood trickled down his face.  With his throat tightening, he could taste his own blood.  He may have gotten himself in far too deep, and it would be hard to get out of it.  He had to try though, for himself, for Abram, and for revenge.
The gang member then did the unthinkable, drawing out a silver and gold knife he grinned deviously at Gabriel.  ”Two of the same blood, with the same blade!”  he lunged forward and thrust the knife towards Gabriel’s stomach.  Thinking fast, Gabriel dove out of the way as the gang leader tumbled forward.  Gabriel quickly grabbed the gang leader from the back of his long black hair, grasping it firmly between his fingers as he drove him hard to the ground, smashing his head on the pavement.
The gang member starts bleeding badly from his head, but he remains conscious.  Standing up from the ground as Gabriel backs up, the gang leader weakly exhales, wheezing as he fights to breath.  Gabriel came in for the kill, his eyes fiery with rage and his fists clenched tightly.  His veins pulsed so heavily with adrenaline that they bulged upon his neck, and red face that had the blood-smeared resemblance of his lips.  With nothing but revenge in his mind, Gabriel pummeled the gang leader until he cried out in pain.
”Stop!  Ugh…stop it… Please!”  He cried our as he choked on his own blood.
”Did you stop for my brother?” Gabriel barked as the anger within him began to take control.  ”Did you?” he shouted.  ”Let him go…” a strange voice spoke to Gabriel.  Taken aback, Gabriel stood up from the fallen gang leader as he stepped cautiously backward until the gang leader returned to his feet.
”This isn’t the end.” the gang leader spat out.  The gang leader stumbles down the alley near the house.  A moment passes, as Gabriel looks around confused.  Suddenly Gabriel hears the sound of screeching tires.  A van pulls out from the alley way and knocks over a mailbox.  Flying around the corner, and heading straight for Gabriel the van speeds up.  The van has a large elephant on the side with a bold faced lettering of the word “Tusks.”
”Come on Charlie, drive!”  Charlie accelerates right towards Gabriel.  Seeing the van speeding towards him, Gabriel turns and runs across the yards.  Feeling the weight of his fatigue, Gabriel cuts through a yard and jumps over the fence, falling to his knees, he rests.  The van drives up onto the grass and turns down the next street.  Gabriel regains his breath as he walks out of the driveway.  In an instant the van pulls up behind him and Gabriel throws down a garbage can that gets caught up under the van as it slows down.  With a roar of the engine, the van drives over top of the garbage can, smashing it in two.  Gabriel cuts through another alleyway, losing the van as it drives right by.
”Where did he go?” Charlie stops the van and turns it around towards the alleyway.  He drives up to the alley where Gabriel is resting.  The van wouldn’t fit, so they all get out.  ”Do you see him?”  a gang member asked.
”Over there Crusher!  There he is!” shouted Skinny.  Gabriel hears them shouting and climbs up a tall fence, his pant leg gets caught as he leaps over the top.  The sound of ripping cloth echoes throughout the alley.  The gang follows after Gabriel.  Jumping over a pile of boxes, Gabriel runs through Market Street.  The gang follows closely behind him, nearly a few feet away from him.  Feeling them closing in on him, Gabriel sprints towards the fish table.  The pungent smell of fresh fish lingers around Market Street.  Gabriel slows down but the gang is not stopping for any means.
The gang knocks over a crate of fish.  ”You’re gonna pay for that!”  Bellows the hefty fisherman.  The gang members chase Gabriel into a metal crafting shop.  Blinded by the shimmering silver and copper, the gang members spread out to find something besides the shining metals that greeted them.  Gabriel crouches behind the table with a metal bar in his hands.  As Charlie inches past the table, Gabriel crashes the metal bar over his back.  Charlie falls to the ground as the gang scuffle through the metal, to attack Gabriel.  Throwing Gabriel to the ground the gang begins to beat him. Gabriel swings the bar and the gang members scatter.  Dropping the bar, Gabriel grabs Skinny by the shirt and throws him onto the welding table. Screaming in desperation Skinny manages to fight Gabriel off, but not before Gabriel can leave a scorched mark on his face.  Crusher picks up the bar and smashes it across Gabriel’s back.  Falling to the ground, Gabriel screams out.  Darkness fills the room as he passes out.
”Let’s go guys,” Charlie orders as the gang gathers around the fallen Gabriel.  Sirens fill the air as the police circle the shop.  ”Hurry up!” he shouts as the police bust through the door with guns pulled and weapons ready.  ”Freeze!” the officer calls out as the gang is beaten to the ground.  ”We have a warrant for the arrest of the Tusks gang.  Over and out”—the radio signal on the officer’s chest crackles out.  The police officers hand cuff the gang members and haul them out of the shop.  Looking down on Gabriel, the officers exchange a mutual glance.  ”Take him too.”  The other officer hesitantly lifts Gabriel up off the ground as they both carry him out to a separate car.  The officers clear the area, leaving Gabriel unconscious in the back of the police car.
