I can agree and disagree to this quote. I can agree because I think we’ve all been in this position before, where we are stuck with the work and others around don’t do much and complain. I can also dissagree because I think we have all been in this position where there was a team leader who took control and did all the work. There’s always a two sides to each story or perspective so I don’t think it’s quite fair to choose a side. It’s very easy to be on the other side of the spectrum. Just depends on the situation. There are many factors to consider. Intimadation, low self-esteem, manipulation, lazyness, power, confidence. When your dealing with people and work your also dealing with many different emotions and characters. Your quote I agree with but your notes are putting a different meaning to it. It was thoughtful of you to consider the situational and emotional factors which inhibits people from helping out in group work. You must be a very kind person.

Though it’s true that there are such factors it is unfortunate that some “doers” have to put up with “whiners” in addition to the “non-performers.” From my experience I believe it is the “non-performing whiners” who are the real burden in any group. If they can’t be of help, then don’t be a burden. =)
