I think this is poignant but relevant to everyone, whether they are a writer or not, so I don’t think it’s right for Brevity. But good regardless.

As an aphorism it might work, if “substitute…for” is replaced by “substitute.. by” and “Blinders” is replaced by “Blinkers”.

As it stands, it sounds like a recommendation for close-mindedness.

As a quote, this is very good. Though it’s not a short story. I know the 6-word thing is all the rage now, but this is really more advice than anything that suggests a story, as Hemmingway’s famous piece did.

Interesting, kind of mordant. I like your style.

Does this really qualify as a short story? I am not sure. But, it is a clever piece of advice.

Quite an interesting take on cultural blinders. Yes, this is a more open expression: looking more closely through the corrective lens of humanity.

While I love the expression, I don’t think you need the words surrounding it. Substitute . . . for . . . could be more creative. Still, nice thought.

You are SO right in just these few, but insightful words.

Society has – for so long, kept us from seeing the ‘good’ in every person’s inner being. Each person can offer so much, if only allowed.

I love this memoir that you bring into the light for everyone to see. Now, if only people will just open their hearts.

All my best to you,
Rhonda

WOW!  That six word statement says a lot!  Once you start to really think about what it is saying, it seems the two points although valid are initially stunning but opposites.  If you are blind, do bifocals help at all?  But then you could argue: That’s the point here!
