I like that you included “my pen,” which I think is the instrument that breathes life into writing. It results in a handwriting that also says something and it gives a part of the writer to what is being written. I don’t like the use of “it” though. This leaves your words less descriptive when another word there could be far more dramatic and appropriate.

Very strong and made me say ah-ha. My only critique would be to either not capitalize the “m”, or to add a period at the end. Good work!

I thought this was too cliche for a written memoir. Consider that fact that the majority of people who send out admissions will be writers, and in a writing community, it’s not a big deal if you write (though it gets you in the club). Isn’t there anything more personal? Why do you want to write?
