His accent was thick,
his English was thin
He said,
“Give me piece.”
We laughed
48 years over our heads
and told him
Hippies were extinct.
He winced
as the Americans
devoured
the last of
the cake.

I enjoyed this. To me, I interpret this as Americans taking what they want and using semantics to get away with it. I might be waaaaay off, but ah, the joy of art. If done properly anyone can find their own meaning between the lines.
