A light at the end of a dark tunnel. It’s to the point, I like it.

This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the writing life.

interesting, but I don’t think this will sum up your entire life.

I might suggest changing the tense of this piece as follows:
Winter holds no joy. Hail Spring!
I think that it adds a bit of excitement to the piece, joyfully greeting Springtime, and there is interesting wordplay with “hail” since it is not only a greeting, but a winter phenomenon as well. I can’t tell if this adversely affects your message or not. I hope that it does not. If you want this published in the Urbis/Smith contest, then you should definitely submit it to the opportunity, instead of speculating whether it is good enough. (It is.) Take care. :)

It’s light. It’s intriguing. Maybe a different word other than “had”?

Winter bore no luxuries? Winter brought no luxuries?

I like the capitalization of the seasons. It gives them personality.

too bland for a memoir, six word limit considered.

Though winter had no luxuries, spring came doesn’t quite finish the thought, perhaps ‘winter has no luxuries, spring does’ which them implies spring has luxuries that winter is missing or doesn’t have. Spring came implies nothing much though I see your intent. but how does this relate to one’s memoir?

Sorry, doesn’t quite make sense to me.  What does it have to do with your creative life?

This stirred up a thought that many writers do have seasons of creativity. I hope your spring brought you an abundance of words. As for the contest, I would not know by reading these words you are writing about your creative life.
