Journal, Diary, & Blogging / Does Country's Recession Equal Slavery? (Analysis)
Is ¾ of our hard-earned money in some cryptic, wealthy only type of escrow? I, for one, am sick and tired of receiving IOUs on behalf of my worth and efforts. If only our efforts could make our assets liquefy, then maybe this country would stand on principals designed for every American to avow, possess, and put into action, right?
Well that isn’t necessarily the ways things go in the home of the brave. Hard working blue and white collar employees have participated in forums admitting to feeling like street urchins compared to, let’s say, thirteen year olds who’re making millions of dollars from their home computers. This makes it hard to believe we once lived in a country that took great pride in hard physical work over Mensa-bound Bill Gates-like kids with the aptness for SEO and technological dominance.
Though I haven’t reached the cusp of my uttering in this post, I’ll say that it’s not my intention to be virulent while defending my opinions. Some people may call these prose editorial statements or a gospel of lies for all I care; as long as someone walks away from my views with a new or extra frame of reference to base their self-approved dictums of wisdom upon- and I’m valiant about how my self-decreed mandates of observation are titled.
First, notice how our county’s recession has made us slaves. It seems as if our value has been de-emphasized, and large conglomerate companies are choosing everything for us. Have we [Americans] really become that damn lazy? On second thought, I shouldn’t say Americans, because lots of the rich folks in the USA make up the highest elitist caste multipartite: slave masters.
I’ll be more clairvoyant by saying the rich control the poor. The government controls and affiliates with the rich. Come on, does the regime of governance think we’re really that sophomoric? Do they think we don’t know they’ve been using us as slaves for years?
Modern slavery operates in the United States. The types of perpetrators (or slave masters) use a range of crimes, coercion, psychological and physical violence- to hold gull individuals captive.
While forced labor exists across the USA, reported cases are concentrated in states with large immigrant communities, including California, Florida, New York and Texas. After researching tons more material I spotted information that stated forced labor occurs in poorly regulated industries with high demand for cheap labor- sweatshops, restaurants and hotels, in addition to agriculture and domestic work.
With the cost of goods and services rising, and minimum wage remaining at $7.15 (should be a lot higher), it’s no wonder why we’re reliving the slave experience. Only this time it’s not just African Americans, or Jewish Americans who are susceptible to the slavery our country is slowly starting to experience.
Just like back in ancient Egypt, a person could become a slave through self-sale into servitude, but this didn’t result from the individual’s free will, but was rather the results of their inability to pay off debt. Does this sound familiar to the modern day issues America is facing, as far as the debt we now owe in the trillions as a whole?
“The most shocking aspect of all this is that modern day slavery still exists,” Laurel Fletcher, a researcher at the Human Rights Center and professor at UC Berkeley’s School said.
The rich are getting richer, while the poor is getting poorer. The mirage of fulfillment from the adage: money equals power, and power equals respect has caused individual rule through monetary means and legislative backing.
To me, the above paragraph describes at least one form of slavery, so I decided to look up the definition for the word in the New American Webster Dictionary:
Slavery- 1.) The owning or keeping of slaves as a practice or institution, slave holding 2.) The condition of being a slave; bondage; servitude 3.) a condition of submission to or domination by some influence, habit etc. 4.) hard work or toil like that done by slaves; drudgery.
The lines of credit that are being given out to the average American is ridiculous, but that coupled with the USA’s need to purchase has caused the rich to remain in power, cracking their whips at the po’ folks whenever they want us to do something. After all, those in debt are responsible for paying back what they’ve gotten.
In conclusion, I’d like to quote what Ms Fletcher said in regards to modern slavery: “Slavery is a problem the public thinks we solved a long time ago, but in fact, it’s alive and well. It has simply taken on a new form.”

“Is ¾ of our hard-earned money in some cryptic, wealthy only type of escrow?” Awkward opening sentence.
I like the word choice. Eloquent but down-to-earth.
“Though I haven’t reached the cusp of my uttering in this post,” A bit of unclear phrashing there.
You’ve got a very strong argument and passionate prose here. You come across as righteously indignant buy you explain your opinions. That way, it comes across as calm and not just rageful ranting.
However, what you have in rhetoric, you lack in solid proof. While I certainly don’t disagree with your sentiments, I’d like some statistics or some proof. Just how are we exactly falling into slavery? What type of slavery? What is the specific cause of this?
When I’ve read Marxist pamphlets or No Logo, they would back up their assertions with anecdotes, evidence, or research study. Given this is a blog or diary entry (I’m guessing), I can cut you some leeway, but you have to throw the reader a bone if you want them to jump on board.
While I noted the diction, at times its own wordiness kinda drowns it out and thus the point is kinda muffled. There’s also a few minor mechanical and grammar mistakes you want to go back through and clean up.

Pretty much a disjointed rant, im not spell bound by the language nor is my mind awakened to new viewpoints.
Thats the extent of my literary review. BUT, a wonderful attempt, you must continue to spread this type of truth, I only criticize because in order to be heard you must be able to draw in your readers and/or listeners. I would like you to be heard.
Preach, use anecdotes, appeal to emotion, get your message across.
This is dry toast, feed the people cheesecake.
