K’naan is the new face of rap music. The lyrical genius moved to Canada from the deprived country of Africa, where he lived in the city of Somalia. He would stand on the dusty streets of the ghetto raping lyrics from the American rap pioneers and reciting his Grand father’s poetry. K’naan’s style is a mixture of the cultural vibe of Africa with a Hip Hop feel and a whole lot of soul. K’naan currently lives in Toronto, where he has a record deal with Sony Canada. He has collaborated with some of the business greats like Nelly Fertado and Timberland. K’naan still keeps his sound original and every track seems to tell the story of his life, growing up in the treacherous city of Somalia. He was able to overcome every hurdle that stood in front of him to make a better life for himself, family and friends. K’naan’s never quit, ‘don’t get killed’, attitude should be an inspiration for anyone who has ever said they could not achieve their life goals no matter what they may be. Devotion, hard work and a whole lot of passion is the recipe for success but, when success is achieved it takes a great man to never forget where he came from. In K’naan’s life that place was hell on earth.
