Auburn cornfield,
Standing strong through Summer’s end,
Harvest grains abound

Auburn just doesn’t seem like the right color.  Having been raised in Indiana, I have a lot of cornfield experience, and I don’t think reddish brown is a natural color for it, esp. at the end of summer.  If it is still standing strong, it should be light brown/tan or still green.

As a haiku, there is no ah-ha moment here, and not much of a deeper meaning either.  Seems to me to be a pretty mundane observation.  What are you trying to convey about Summer’s end and corn?
