It’s not necessary to establish the title in the song. It’s a common thing done by people who want to simplify their song for readers/listeners who don’t have the mental capacity to understand that there is a difference. Many modern artists don’t use their title in their lyrics. I’ll be reporting this because it isn’t really helpful. I don’t mean to be bitchy or anything, but it’s not going to help me refine the song much =(
Lyrics / The Purple Heart
Elequoent words, a child disturbed
A thought in my mind just seems absurd
Generally I'm not to take a chance
But I've desire to end this trance
I found myself beside you, wouldn't you know
Too drunk to drive, but not to say hello
And as I did, I found, luxury,
And it's so clear, I know, why can't you see
It's a party, but I'm not party to this
It's too coincidental, and it's not bliss
But it's near I'll get, and this party's pretty tight
I'm hopelessly devoted, at least for the night
So we'll dance, dance, and it'll pass like like fever
And I'll ask, I'll ask, should I leave her?
And that stain on my lips
From your boyfriend's fist
Is just another badge of honour
And my honesty is gone - oh,
Don't you think he's a little too red
And can't you see the alcohol has got to his head
I'm gunna take you out of here
Because that crowd is getting, a little too near
It's a party, but I'm not party to this
It's too coincidental, and it's not bliss
But it's near I'll get, and this party's pretty tight
I'm hopelessly devoted, at least for the night
So we'll dance, dance, and it'll pass like like fever
And I'll ask, I'll ask, should I leave her?
Oh o-oh, ooh, oh-o-o-o
Oh o-oh, ooh, oh-o-o-o

I have read this thru quite a few times and I get it. Although I think it would be tighter if we could do without the word And, also try and stay away from the use of larger words. Simplicity is good and relates to alot of people. If you already have a great back up song writer let the rest take care of it’s self.

hi there,
i understand the song/lyric is about getting a purple heart but in songs unlike poems, you have to state the title at the end of the verses or in a repeating chorus…on the bright side i do like it and the images you write about as well as a few of the rhymes…mostly, i like the play with words, 2 times..with, it’s a party, but i’m not a party to this!!!....:)..that might even make a good title!...nice job in general..try a little polishing with the title in mind and repost…good luck..jim
